f you’ve been looking around you probably already know that finding a photographer with exactly the qualities of talent, experience, and attitude that you are looking for can get very complicated…and expensive. You visit lots of web sites, trying to find someone who you hope you’ll feel comfortable with, someone you want to have around all day at your wedding, whose work you love, and who fits into your budget. It’s not easy.

What I think is most important is to look at the images in a photographers portfolio and see if they move you, and if they show you the world in a way that makes sense to you. If they do, talk to the photographer. Can you chat easily with her? Does she understand what you are telling her about the sorts of images you admire? Do you feel comfortable asking lots of questions? If so, you may well have found the right person: someone who can create for you the sort of visual memory of your day that will remind you not just how things looked at your wedding, but how they felt as well.
